Uniformed men, I am referring to the Police, Prisons, Civil Defence Corps were in a bullish mood as they unleashed their ‘force’ on hapless Nigerians such as Okada men, Suya sellers, Recharge card sellers and other petty traders at Galadima Bus stop, Gwarinpa, Abuja. I got there quite late but managed to get two pictures before my device went off.
Unknown to me, I was found out my police officer who saw me and raised an alert and he prepared to give me a chase. I was on the bridge and from the picture if zoomed, you will see the policeman with a stick looking up. i was giving a chase but I used the presence of people around me to facilitate my ‘escape’. There was a large crowd on the bridge as people were watching the ugly scenario.
Initially from afar while I was coming, I saw the okada men trying to prevent their motorcycles being taken away but were overpowered by the security men.
This is unfortunate as the government is trying to ‘kill’ and ‘suffocate’ Nigerians who are etching a living from nothing. The government has failed woefully to provide a conducive environment for business to strive and people ‘took laws into their hands’.
The government should wake up to her responsibilities and create a good environment and there won’t be any need for task force to chase ‘poor Nigerians’ from living.
