Aregbesola Has Killed Education In Osun - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State chapter has said the current administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola has destroyed the education sector since he became the governor on November 26,2010.

According to a press statement made available by the party’s Director of Media and Strategy, Prince Diran Odeyemi, said: “We have watched with bated breath how the governor of Osun State has ruined the education sector because of his insensitivity to the plight of the masses.

“From the 9th position in WAEC in 2009, the state has suddenly dropped in rating to between 24th and 26th, owing to nonchalant attitude of Ogbeni Aregbesola. And while every state had put finished touches to ensure that academic activities resume without hitches in their respective states after the long vacation because of Ebola outbreak, Aregbesola has continued to play the ostrich.”

Odeyemi stated that Osun State government was yet to provide all the necessary gadgets the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, requested as condition precedent to resumption of academic activities.

He added: “We have discovered that Aregbesola is not interested in the academic pursuit of our children. He would prefer that his systematic destruction of the academic calendar would produce more school drop-outs that will be willing tool for his orchestrated plan to destabilise the state.

“The question to ask Aregbesola is, why is education not given the deserved priority under his administration? It is an open secret that any project that will not bring financial windfall to Aregbesola and his cronies is always neglected.”
