Jonathan To Declare Today

The President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan is expected to formally announce his intention to rule the country one more time this evening. He will be meeting with all the elected governors of the Peoples Democratic Party at the State House.


According to one of the PDP governors (names withheld), they (the PDP governors) received a circular for the meeting sent to them by the Protocol Office of the President.

"We just received signals that the President would be meeting all PDP elected governors at the State House at 9pm,” the governor said.

Issues to be discussed at tonight's meeting at the State House, apart from the president's official declaration, the issue of those that will succeed governors whose eight year-tenure ends next year.

It will be recalled that there have been disagreements between the governors and the leadership of the PDP as regards their successors.

Just recently, the PDP governors had endorsed the President as the sole presidential candidate which also led the National Executive Committee (NEC) adopting the President as the party’s sole presidential candidate at its meeting.
